Primary U/11 Girls Football Festival....

On Thursday 11th March 2010, two U/11 Girls Football Teams from St. Catherine’s School accompanied by Mr. Michael Saliba and Mrs. Josette Zammit, took part in a Football Festival for Primary Children, Held at San Anton School.  This was the first of its kind.  Although the weather looked cloudy and rainy at first, postponing the beginning of the tournament by half an hour, blue skies and a warm sun soon replaced the rain, helping to make the morning a very enjoyable one for all.  After playing four games each, both teams finished in top positions in their respective groups.

The Yellow Team, consisting of Kathryn Ellul, Giulia Micallef, Mariah Sciberras, Jessica Pisani, Andrea Farrugia, Jenny Vella and Nicole Bonnett, won all their games finishing with maximum points.

The Blue Team, consisting of Jodie Arpa, Nicole Caruana, Jessica Muscat, Rebecca Zammit, Francesca Psaila, Rachel Micallef, Pia Agius, Sarah Gatt and Giannella Vella, won 3 games and drew 1, finishing also top of their group.

A big well done to all the girls who participated!

Boys U/13 Football Touranment....

This under 11 team took represented St. Catherine's in an under 13 tournament held at St. Edwards.  Ms. Natasha commented "Although they lost all their matches many teachers/coaches praised their attitude and were impressed by a couple of players. (The other teams were mainly made up of Senior 2s and 3s and many were even taller and bigger than me!"

Well done boys for setting a good example in sports.

Girls' Christmas Festival at the Centenary Stadium....

Aware of the importance of promoting football for girls at a tender age, the MFA Women's section organised a Christmas Festival on Monday 28 December for two categories of girls, the U/11 and U/13.

St. Catherine's High School's team showed hard work and enthusiasm and managed to place in the top position in the Under 11 category after winning all keenly-contested matches against the other four contestants: 3-2 against Hibernians, 4-0 against Mgarr, 3-1 against Xaghra, and 2-0 against Tarxien.

We take this opportunity to congratulate our winning team, and their coach Ms. Natasha, which once again brought prestige to the name of the School.  Well done girls!
