Flutterby Easter Concert 2010
At Flutterby it is our annual tradition to put together an Easter concert with our youngest groups (1-6), participating in a musical show.
Our dedicated Child Carers teach the children two dance routines plus a finale Easter item. The music that is chosen is child friendly and the movements are age appropriate. An essential part of the children’s development involves creative engagement through music, gestures and body movements and our intention is to make this an exciting and fun experience for our little ones.
This year’s event was comprised of two shows: a matinee which was held on the 23rd of March and an evening show which was held on the 25th of March.
Well done to all our little performers and to all our Child Carer’s who planned, organized and rehearsed together with their little ones for so many weeks to make this concert such a success.
Last but not least! We would like to thank Mr. Brian Gauci, our School Coordinator, who prepared a marvelous presentation of our Flutterby children in action, which brought tears to our eyes!

Tree Deco Day 2009
For Christmas 2009 we invited our students to decorate the school Christmas Trees and for this purpose we introduced the Tree Deco Day in our School Calendar.
The Tree Deco Day was held on
Tuesday, 1st December. We must say that the students, from the Pre-Junior through the Junior 6, responded well and with great enthusiasm. On the said day, every student brought one decoration with him/her which they then hung on one of the School Christmas Trees.
We thank all the students and parents for their generosity.

Animal Awareness Day 2009
The 4th of October marks the celebration of the feast of St. Francis and the significance of his life for us humans. This day has thus been chosen to commemorate the animal world, and to remind us of the rights of animals and the respect that we owe them.
At St. Catherine’s High School, the commemoration of this day is an important event and it has as such become an annual date on the school calendar. Animal Awareness Day is organised with the sole aim of heightening awareness amongst students, staff and families about the importance of respecting, protecting, and taking care of the animal species. To this avail, the School’s population is mobilised to appreciate and learn more a
bout the keeping of pets and the importance of all animals of different species in the global environment chain.
As is customary, students and their parents bring their pets to school in a whole-school campaign in favour of animals. This year, we welcomed at school around 50 different pets which remained on our school grounds for two hours while the students toured in groups the various sections dedicated to dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, fish, tortoises, rabbits, etc.
As part of the activity, the School has also campaigned to raise funds that will be contributed towards a local NGO that deals with animal rights.

Open Day 2009
St. Catherine's High School organised for the first time an Open Day on Sunday 17th May from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The event took place on the school's spacious grounds and premises and included a variety of activities and stalls set up purposely for the day which was meant to be a 'family' day where all the families present in our School but also the general public were invited to come and see the fruits of work of our School as well as enjoy a pleasant fun-filled day for younger and older alike.
The day kicked off with a variety show presented by our Dance group and ended with mass. Throughout the day, peopled (young tots too!) flocked to the various activities, pony rides, sports activities and tournaments, family games, bouncy castles, go-karts, mobile rock climbing among others. There was fun for everyone!
This fun-filled day however was also accompanied by educational activities for children and parents such as Maltese literacy workshops by Ms. Nathalie Portelli, a prolific Maltese children's author, as well as an English literacy workshop for parents and children. Drama workshops were held for children by the Helen O'Grady Academy and there was also the participation of Ronald McDonald and his show for kids. The Police Dogs exhibited their talents in a show and various crafts put up by the various classes and teachers were exhibited, such as the building of a green house with recycled plastic bottles by the Junior 2 students, the building of a mural by the Pre-Junior four-year-old children, and items for sale and distribution by the School's student Eco-Skola committee.
Food was not missing either and there were various stalls selling home made items and also items made by our children during their cooking lessons.
