Boreatton Park Adventure School Trip
St. Catherine's High School has ventured itself into yet another adventure school trip. Our 17-strong group of girls and boys enthusiastically met at the airport on Thursday 31st March in view of their departure for the Adventure Trip to Boreatton Park. The group of boys and girls were accompanied by Ms. Sue, Ms. Lorraine and Mr. Brian.
Boreatton Park is run by PGL which is the UK's leading provider of school trips and children's adventure holidays - offering outdoor education and adventures of a lifetime to children since 1957, and as such it offers the best in thrills, challenges and adventure!
A former mansion house, Boreatton Park is situated within 250 acres of superb grounds including two lakes, a sandstone cliff and a river. The centre has a huge choice of activities from abseiling to zip wire and an impressive range of facilities - with a good mix of both indoor and outdoor activities to ensure a fantastic time whatever the weather!
Our Boreatton Adventure School Trip took place from Thursday 31st March till Sunday 3rd April.
In preparation, a meeting was held for the group of students on Tuesday, 22nd February, and another meeting was held for the parents; this meeting took place on Tuesday, 15th March.
And then there was the big day...the day of the departure!
The students, together with Ms. Sue, Ms. Lorraine and Mr. Brian, experienced the thrills of jumping off poles to catch a trapeze swing, walking on tightropes at the height of 36 feet, gliding down a zip wire at 30 feet height and working together as a team to climb a 33 feet high Giant Ladder and work out group tasks.
It was a great experience for all the students who stretched their comfort zones, and tried things which were at first daunting to them. The looks of satisfaction and smiles on the faces of the children once they achieved the much daunted task were incredible, and the teachers were so proud of the sense of challenge, team work, and support that each student gave to fellow friends in the group.
We left Boreatton with a huge sense of pride in our children - they behaved impeccably, took each challenge with a sense of determination and courage, and helped and supported each other throughout. So we look forward to next year ... and yet another adventure weekend with our students!
