Parents' Group
Following the set-up of the Parents’ Group, the School launched the first of a series of seminars aimed at providing an opportunity for personal and parental development for the parents!
These talks were held on the 16th and the 17th March, and the topic chosen for these seminars was Effective Communication with our Children. We had three different speakers, each addressing a particular age so as to better meet the needs at particular phases in the growth of a child.
The next appointment was for the 12th and the 13th April where we held another seminar, this time on the topic of Educating Children for Healthy Sexuality which was delivered by Ms. Mary Ann Borg Cunen.
We must say that the response was extremely good and encouraging to say the least. The feedback received was in general very positive which shows that such fora were greatly appreciated by the parents. All this urged us to continue providing such fora for the parents.
In fact, for the month of May we repeated the seminars on Effective Communication with our Children. However, this time, upon the parents' suggestion, the seminars were open for daddies only. We had two different speakers, one catering for the Flutterby and Pre-Junior ages and the other catering for the Junior 1 to 6 age. Both seminars were held on the 18th May.
For the month of June, the Group organised two seminars on Health and Nutrition, one on the 1st June and the second one on the 2nd June. Both seminar were open for all ages. are planning a different topic for the month of June.
This was the last seminar for the 2010-2011 scholastic year. While we hope that these fora have been of benefit for the parents, we augur that the next scholastic year will be another year of parental involvement and that the Parents’ Group continues to be of service towards our community of parents.
In the meantime, we take this opportunity to thank the Parents’ Group which organized these seminars in collaboration with the School, and we encourage any parents who are interested to come forward and join in.
